An Afternoon of Tea at Pila-Teas
What to Expect from Our September Tasting
There's a particular kind of magic that happens the moment someone breathes in the aroma of a new-to-them organic tea. That's the moment I enjoy, the sigh, the dropping of their shoulders and the yummm moment right before their first sip.
Every month we're setting the Pilates mats aside for an afternoon and opening the Victorian tea bar, the gallery walls, and five teas I picked because together they tell a small story about what tea can actually do. Stay up to date as every month has a different tea line up.
What teas will we taste at the September tasting?
The September 13th lineup is five teas: Apricot Escape, White Coconut Crème, Happy Tea, Pumpkin Spice Chai, and Dark Chocolate Peppermint.

We're starting with Apricot Escape, a rooibos and honeybush blend that steeps the palest, prettiest pink, tart and clean, like the last bite of stone fruit before summer actually lets go. Then White Coconut Crème, a white tea gone soft and creamy, almost dessert-like, the kind of cup you slow down for. Happy Tea comes next, and it's exactly what I hand someone who says they don't really like tea. Raspberry, hibiscus, a little jasmine. It smells like it sounds. From there we shift into fall with Pumpkin Spice Chai, black tea with cinnamon and clove and a finish so creamy it drinks like a latte. And we'll close on Dark Chocolate Peppermint, dark and rich with cooling mint underneath, the tea equivalent of an after-dinner treat.
Five teas, five completely different moods, one afternoon.
What does the $15 ticket include?
The $15 ticket includes a curated pour of all five teas, snacks, a tasting tea card, and guided notes on each tea's history and flavor.
I'll walk you through some of the history behind what you're drinking- not a lecture, just the parts that make a cup more interesting. You'll get a small tea tasting card to record your own tasting notes. All five teas and more retail options will be available to take home from the Tea Bar afterward, in case a canister wants to follow you home.
How do I RSVP, and what's the cancellation policy?
RSVP is required since space and supplies are limited. Cancel up to 24 hours ahead if something comes up, there's usually a waitlist so your spot won't go to waste.
This isn't a class you can slide into the back row of. It's a table, a few chairs, and the aromas of the room. Well-behaved older kids are welcome.
I started doing these tastings because tea has never just been about the drink. It's the one part of the day that asks you to slow down. It's also the community of it, pouring it for you, finding a flavor you didn't expect to love, that's its own kind of medicine. Whether it's tea or Pilates, Pila-Teas is the same reason I do any of this.
New flavors show up every month. September is apricot, coconut, happy, pumpkin, and chocolate mint. Come with curiosity. Leave with a favorite.
