There's an old art to reading what's left behind. Not what's in the cup, but what's left after it's been emptied.

On October 24th, from 4 to 6pm, we're hosting our 6th annual tea leaf reading ceremony, an evening of tea leaf readings with Christiana, a locally known medium. You sip a cup of tea. She reads the pattern the leaves leave behind. What settles at the bottom of the cup becomes the start of a story about your past, present, and maybe what's coming.

What is Tasseography?

Tasseography is the ancient art of reading tea leaves, older than most of what passes for fortune telling now. No cards, no crystal ball, just tea and intention. Readings happen one-on-one and run 15 to 20 minutes each, so this isn't a room full of strangers watching each other's turns. It's you, your cup, and whatever the leaves have to say. Registration ahead of time is required so you get a scheduled slot.

What's the spookiest Trunk-or-Treat in Westminster this Halloween?

Right outside Pila-Teas. The neighborhood's Trunk-or-Treat and hearse car show runs 2 to 6pm on Lowell Blvd in the heart of Westy's Historic Art District, the same day as our tea leaf readings.

Make a whole afternoon of it. Food trucks out, Atelier Alchimia, where Jonny Edward turns hats and shadow into something a little uncanny, will have their space open two doors down.

Electric City Repair & Records turns their shop into the Haunted Stereo Shop, hearses and hot rods parked out front, candy for the kids, a full-on Halloween scene in the middle of the street. Come early for the street festival, then settle into your reading sometime between 4 and 6. Maybe even the band will be back after popular demand.

Funny enough, this exact day last year is part of how Pila-Teas found its way into the Penguin Building. Some dates carry a little spooky magic more than others.

$50 gets you the reading and a cup of tea to bring home. Bring a friend, leave with some tea. Spots are limited since it's one-on-one, book ahead for your time slot.
